Acadia National Park Maine Travel PicturesAcadia National Park Pictures | Travel Camping Information This is part of an 18 week, 7,532 mile, Vanabode road trip detailed in the
book from Amazon Above: Picture of natural seawall across from Seawall Campground in Acadia National Park. Above: When you travel Vanabode style, on your own schedule, with no check in and check out times, no hotel or campsite hassles, you often have the places you want to enjoy to yourself. Here my wife Kelly and I enjoy Sandy Beach with nearly nobody else here. Above: Picture of Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse in western part of Acadia. Above: Picture taken at the Pretty Marsh picnic area in Acadia. A very quiet area with only the sounds of birds and lapping of the water upon the shoreline rocks. Above: Picture of Echo Lake taken in the morning before the crowd. The water temperature at the lake is about 15 degrees warmer than ocean at Sand Beach. Above: Picture showing the nature of the Beehive Trail. Although there are beautiful views of Sand Beach and the harbor, this strenuous trail isn't for someone afraid of heights or narrow ledges. Above: Picture of the many climbers making their way up the Beehive. A trail that climbs upwards to 520 feet, but more challenging both mentally and physically than it sounds. As you can see there is no easy way to the top but to climb up the steep south face of this mountain. Definitely not for kids due to the iron rungs and hand rails on the ledges required to reach the peak. Unfortunately, we did see a 4 yr old and 6 yr old that were following their parents on this hike as well as people in flip flops. Above: Picture of the view from Cadillac Mountain. Two ways to reach the top, hike or drive. We drove for the sunrise and then stayed to hike around afterwards. Above: Picture taken while waiting for sunrise from Cadillac Mountain.
