This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Boulder Station Hotel Las Vegas

Boulder Station On the positive side the Boulder Station room was big enough with a comfortable sized bathroom and double sinks, a distant view of the strip and the Stratosphere, and it was clean throughout. There were no bad smells or indications of any mildew which can be a problem in older places due to poor ventilation planning in bathrooms mainly.

On the down side the shower/tub had a shower curtain that blowed against you, sticking to your legs as you bathe, and it was very noisy through the door to the hallway throughout the day and late into the night. The pool could easily host 70 people comfortably and was only 30 feet from our elevators to the room. This casino serves the locals heavily and they probably aren't swimming much so maybe it was adequete.

As food goes we had a really strange experience. Firstly Boulder Station has the best Friday and Saturday night buffet in all of Vegas for the price of $10 to $12 depending on the season. They included all you can eat cooked to order steaks, pastas, chicken, ribs, ham and turkey with THREE times more choices of everything else than say for instance the overpriced Hilton buffet.

We had a terrible time at the Broiler restaurant due to bad management though. I mentioned that one of my favorite meals in all the city is at the Palace Station Broiler resturant so we expected the same quality here at Boulder Station Broiler. Not so. Kelly ordered a hot sweet potato that arrived cut in half (they served the other half to someone else) and it was completely slimy and wet, almost leaked out of the skin when they plunked it down. Her green beans were so wilted and dehydrated I actually laughed a little when I saw them. This of course did not help things.

My food was okay but overpriced in the $23 dollar range. My biggest complaint was the fact that after the server dropped off our food he never once came back. No water refills. No "how is your food" No nothing. I complained to Dee the manager and explained to her the problems and all she could do was offer us drinks on the house. I suppose if we got drunk we would forget. Too bad though because by this time Kelly is livid and takes the little cup of cinnamon butter, holds it up and says to Dee, "this was the best part of my meal". The manager responded by jerking up the dishes and saying well I guess there is nothing I can do here. She left. Don't go or you'll be sorry. Food court options are limited to cheap McDonalds level fare served nice and fast.
