This page from my master list of all Las Vegas articles I wrote while developing Vanabode as the best travel vehicle for cheap easy long term road trips.

Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas

Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas was the Aladdin Hotel before it became PH. The Aladdin had a long history on the Strip starting in 1963 when it was built. It had been through several owners, renovations, remodelings and even an implosion. PH took it over in 2003 when the Aladdin filed for bankruptcy and started remodeling it in 2006.

Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas' new casino entrance is photographed here from the Strip.

Photograph of casino entrance to Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas taken from the Strip. There's no mistaking the entrance now. Large LCD screens with fast changing images surround the entrance sign creating excitement for the passers-by. Exterior walls change from one neon color to the next.

This $120 million renovation is impressive. The Middle-Eastern theme is gone and the glamour of Hollywood has come to the Strip in its place. You'll see neon changing colors on the walls, glittering chandeliers, new sleek floors and renovated rooms. Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas has many new restaurants and shows to keep you entertained. There's a grand entrance now on the Strip with large LCD screens and a large sign flashing 'Casino Entrance' to help get you there.

The 100,000 square feet of gaming area seems to be the main focus for the casino. It is vast, high-energy and beautifully lit with large columns with neon that continuously changes colors. You'll find all your favorite games like Baccarat, craps, Pai Gow, roulette and blackjack. Specialty games like 3 card poker, Let it Ride and Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em can be found as well. Poker tournaments are daily as well as poker classes everyday at 9am. Be sure to check out the Race and Sports Book with a full bar and Pink's famous hotdogs from Hollywood.

When you're feeling rowdy take the escalator upstairs to see the show Stomp Out Loud. A troupe of 16 performers dance and drum using very creative instruments like pots, pans, sticks and garbage can lids to make music. Like the Blue Man Group at the Venetian and "Cirque du Soleil" shows, Stomp started out on the street but have their own showroom now. Check this page for great show deals and room rates.

Pamela Anderson and Sylvester Stallone are photographed here at the opening party of Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

This photograph features Pamela Anderson and Sylvester Stallone at the opening party of Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas. Anderson and Stallone as well as Bruce Willis have a stake in the casino.

Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas has a restaurant or diner in just about every corner so you certainly won't have any trouble finding a place to eat when you're hungry. P.F. Chang's offers a Chinese-American contemporary cuisine. Planet Dailies has its famous burgers and fries 24 hours a day. Yolos has fresh Mexican food and a 13 foot margarita fountain. Vegas is all about fun. If you can't decide what to eat then go to the Spice Market Buffet with its International foods. You'll find Asian, American, Italian, Middle-Eastern and Mexican at Spice Market Buffet. Fine dining is upstairs at Koi for sushi or at the Strip House for steaks.

Rooms have also been remodeled and are spacious with TVs and large soaking tubs. Internet access is available for a surcharge. For a 180 degree view of the Strip ask for a Panorama Suite and watch the Bellagio fountains or see the Eiffel Tower lights at the Paris next door. Caesar's Palace, Bally's and the Flamingo are within walking distance from the Planet Hollywood Hotel Las Vegas. I don't care for their parking situation so if using the Vanabode strategies outlined in the book for doing Vegas cheap park elsewhere and walk or shuttle in.
